An essential piece of the Educational Leadership program at Doane College is focused on understanding the many strands of diversity. Throughout the 2-year journey the intentional focus on diversity created self-awareness and forced me to think about who I am serving and how I am serving in order to meet all needs. Below you will find artifacts that reflect my learning. |

As a way of deepening my understanding of Diversity among gender differences I read “Boys and Girls Learn Differently” and created a professional development opportunity for my fellow staff members through monthly staff meetings. This handout is an example of the information that was shared and evidence of my commitment to partner with teachers in deepening our understanding of the students we have in our classrooms, thus, improving our schools. As an instructional leader, I will continue to promote effective teaching to all learning styles and encourage the developing professional. |

As an educator and leader, it’s important that I continue to develop my understanding of the children I will have the chance to influence and work with. The document I made came from the information I read in ‘Teaching with Poverty in Mind” and includes what the author highlighted as factors for increasing school wide success. As an educational leader who is working on strengthening my role in community/political leadership, this will help me in promoting awareness in socioeconomic understanding in the school and community, as well as responding to the diverse community needs. |
